How to access to Kobe station from Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka

From Tokyo to Kobe

Shinkansen is the most popular way to go to Kobe (Shin-Kobe station) from Tokyo. You can take a Shinkansen from Tokyo or Shinagawa station to Shin-Kobe. It takes 2 hours 40 ~ 50 minutes by Nozomi train, the fastest one. (This train cannot be used with JR Pass). If you land on Narita International Airport, then you can take Narita Express to Tokyo or Shinagawa station (takes around 60 minutes) and transfer to the Shinkansen and get to Shin-Kobe.

If you land on Haneda Airport, you can take Keikyu line directly to Shinagawa station (takes around 20 minutes) and transfer to the Shinkansen.

From Osaka to Kobe

Taking the local train is the most popular way to go to Kobe from Osaka. You can take a JR Tokaido Line (local train) from Osaka station to Sannomiya station. These stations are only three stations away and it takes 20 minutes.

From Nagoya to Kobe

Shinkansen should be the option from Nagoya to Kobe (Shin-Kobe station). You can take a Shinkansen from Nagoya to Shin-Kobe without any transit. It takes 1 hour 3 minutes by Nozomi train (not available for JR Pass). If you have JR Pass, you can take Hikari or Kodama trains from Nagoya to Shin-Kobe which takes a bit longer than Nozomi, but no transit required (takes around 1 hour and 10 minutes).

From Fukuoka to Kobe

Shinkansen should be the option from Fukuoka (Hakata station) to Kobe (Shin-Kobe station). You can take a Shinkansen from Hakata to Shin-Kobe without any transit. It takes 2 hours 15 minutes by Nozomi/Mizuho train (not available for JR Pass). If you have JR Pass, you can take Hikari or Kodama trains from Hakata to Shin-Kobe which takes longer time than Nozomi/Mizuho, but no transit required.

 

How to go to the stadium with Japan Rail Pass

Since you can use your JR Pass with any local train that is operated by JR and Misaki Koen station, the closest station to the stadium is not operated by JR, you need to purchase an individual ticket to take this subway train after getting to JR Sannomiya or JR Kobe station. From Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka, you can take non-Nozomi Shinkansen to Shin-Kobe.

Akashi Kaikyo Bridge

It is the world's longest suspension bridge with a length of almost four kilometers. The Bridge was constructed as one of the Honshu-Shikoku Bridge project, which is one of the greatest projects in Japan to connect Honshu with Shikoku by both highway and railway. The construction work was started in May 1988 and completed in April 1998 after 10 years’ construction period.

Tourists can visit the bridge too. There is an Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge Exhibition Center where the visitors can study the history and enjoy the view from the bridge.

Mt. Rokko

It offers a stunning beautiful panoramic view of the Kobe area. It is possible to shop and dine while enjoying the view from the observatory, as there are various restaurants and several souvenir shops.
